San Francisco’s Drag Queens Return to the Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square for a Night of Laughs, Lipstick and Lashes with the 4th Annual Drag Queens On Ice: An Eleganza Extravaganza!

Donna Sachet to serve as Mistress of Ceremonies with special guest Sister Roma of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence.

SAN FRANCISCO (December 04, 2013) – The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines is thrilled to announce the return of Drag Queens On Ice: An Eleganza Extravaganza, San Francisco’s most fabulous holiday tradition presented by Visit Mendocino County on Thursday, December 12 from 8 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Drag queens and kings will don their most gay apparel for special holiday performances by Mutha Chuka, Ana Conda, Holotatt Tymes, Nellie, Kim ChiChi and Mahlae Balenciaga. Advance tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting www.unionsquareicerink.com. All ages welcome.

“As mistress of ceremonies, I will be the drag queen OFF the ice, but ON the microphone!” says Donna Sachet. “I look forward to this special holiday tradition every year, found only in San Francisco!”

Presenting the event is Visit Mendocino County, who will also host a special photo booth for visitors to the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink all day on Thursday, December 12. During the Drag Queens on Ice event, fans will have the opportunity to pose with the marvelous Sister Roma of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence at the Visit Mendocino County photo booth for a small donation. All donations will be matched by Visit Mendocino County, and proceeds will benefit partner charities of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence.

Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines Launches Virtual Queue App

Union Square visitors can holiday shop while waiting in virtual queue for their turn to ice skate.

SAN FRANCISCO (November 26, 2013)  – The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines launched a mobile app during this year’s ice skating season, providing visitors with a virtual queue, special offers from local retailers and ice rink information directly to their smart phones. The virtual queue will enable ice rink patrons the freedom and flexibility to explore Union Square while waiting for their turn to skate. In addition, the app will have special offers and incentives for users including a complimentary beverage from Capital One 360 Café. The app can be downloaded through iTunes (here) and GooglePlay App Stores (here).

The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines, the premier location for outdoor ice skating among the vibrant lights and popular shopping destinations in San Francisco, will be open through Monday, January 20, 2014. The ice rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with the exception of closing at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. A portion of proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. Patrons can choose to purchase tickets in advance by visiting www.unionsquareicerink.com. Ticket prices for regular admission are $11 and $7 for children eight years old and under. Ice skate and hockey skate rentals are $5. Group rates and private parties are also available.
