SAN FRANCISCO (November 26, 2013) – The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Alaska Airlines launched a mobile app during this year’s ice skating season, providing visitors with a virtual queue, special offers from local retailers and ice rink information directly to their smart phones. The virtual queue will enable ice rink patrons the freedom and flexibility to explore Union Square while waiting for their turn to skate. In addition, the app will have special offers and incentives for users including a complimentary beverage from Capital One 360 Café. The app can be downloaded through iTunes (here) and GooglePlay App Stores (here).
“The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square is in the heart of one of the most innovative cities in the world and we want to reflect that culture,” says Willy Bietak, Safeway Holiday Ice Rink producer and president of Willy Bietak Productions. “We wanted to create a memorable holiday experience for Union Square visitors and allowing ice skaters to wait in a virtual queue provides them the opportunity to do their holiday shopping or grab a warm beverage while waiting for their turn.”
